Week#4: The fourth day of volunteering

Subject: fourth Day of volunteering project
Date: Sunday 1st of November 2015
Time: 8:00am – 12:00pm

Location: Zayed Higher Organization

I arrived at 8:00. Today I went to new workshop which was carpentry workshop. In addition, in the carpentry workshop there are Mr. Throat who is the leader of this workshop with three helpers who are Mr. Abdullah, Mr. Darwish and Mr. Ahmed. There are 13 students.
- This workshop is provided by machines, equipments and different types of woods.

 - Also, there are safety equipments and special ventilation for wood dust.

I saw the tables and chairs that we made in the metal workshop were colored, and some of these tables and chairs are used in the canteen.

Mr. Throat used Sawmill machine to cut the big woods to column woods for the next project.

The students was finishing their last project which was made wood tray.

Mr. Abdullah was sitting in front of the computer and count the dimensions and the size of the tables and the chairs that they made.

I asked one students his name is Abdul Rahman who is the first helper student for the teacher, about the different staffs that they made by the woods. He showed me their works like wood boxes, garnished based for the books, small tables, photo frame, statue, small heritage ships and chess.

Then I had break time from 10:00 to 11:00. During the break time great guest came to visit us who is Mr. Gregory. He came to say hello and see what we have done.

After the break, I saw the students cut the woods which they will use and make them smooth, they wore masks in their face to protect themselves from the dust woods, and they wore headset to protect their ears from the loud voice of the machines.

- Hamad was cleaning the sawmill of the wood dust:

Today I met a student with autism his name is Nabeel. He has difficulties to work in a group with his friends, he does not like team working. In the beginning he did not adapt with me quickly like the others.

Then with passing time he started to talk and deal with me like anyone, but we should be gentle with him (that is what the instructor told me).

Finally, I left the center at 12:00 pm.
